Beijing removed Erick Tsang Kwok-wai from his position as Hong Kong’s Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs on Tuesday, ending days of rumours of his departure. According to Xinhua, the decision by the State Council was based on the recommendation of Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu.
