19th December 2025 – (Hong Kong) Officers from the Yau Tsim Police District’s Special Duties Team mounted an anti‑vice operation in Yau Ma Tei on Thursday (18th) to tackle street prostitution. During the sweep, police arrested a 44‑year‑old foreign woman and a 47‑year‑old mainland Chinese woman near Portland Street and Temple Street on suspicion of soliciting for an immoral purpose and breaching conditions of stay. Both suspects are being held for further enquiries.

Police sources said the foreign national is a 44‑year‑old Ugandan woman holding a recognisance form, while the 47‑year‑old mainland woman entered Hong Kong on a two‑way permit. Officers seized evidence from two flats on Portland Street and Temple Street, including condoms, lubricants and disposable bath towels.

The force said patrols will be stepped up around Portland Street, Bute Street and Temple Street to combat the problem of street prostitution. Police added that tackling street‑level vice remains a priority in the Yau Tsim District and that decisive enforcement action will continue.
