20th December 2025 – (Hong Kong) At around midday on Saturday, an Audi private car travelling towards Tsuen Wan on Shing Mun Tunnels Road reportedly lost control outside the administrative building of the Shing Mun Tunnels. The vehicle struck the central metal barrier, vaulted into the opposite carriageway towards Sha Tin, overturned and came to rest upside down. The driver was trapped and later freed by firefighters before being taken to hospital for treatment.
The Transport Department announced that, due to the collision, parts of the southbound carriageway of Cheung Pei Shan Road near the tunnels’ administrative building have been closed. Motorists are limited to the remaining open lane, and traffic in the area is currently congested.
Fire and ambulance crews attended the scene to extricate the driver. Witnesses reported the car lying on its roof with significant cabin damage; the right front tyre was nearly detached, shattered glass was strewn across the roadway, and a single shoe was left behind.
