22nd December 2025 – (Hong Kong) At 2.41pm today, police received a report of an industrial incident at MTR Mong Kok East Station on Luen Wan Street in Mong Kok. According to initial information, four workers lost consciousness after reportedly inhaling chemical fumes while carrying out renovation works in a changing room area.

Ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene and transported the four affected workers to Kwong Wah Hospital for treatment. They were placed on oxygen masks to assist with breathing.

Site reports indicate that six outsourced workers were engaged in renovation of a changing room at the time of the incident. They were using two generators to power equipment for spraying a stone-like coating, with petrol being burned to run the machines. It is believed that poor ventilation in the confined workspace led to an accumulation of carbon monoxide. As the gas concentration increased, the workers reportedly began to feel increasingly unwell and dizzy, before four of them collapsed, suspected to have inhaled excessive levels of carbon monoxide.

The four affected workers were taken to hospital, where they gradually regained consciousness. The remaining two workers declined hospitalisation. Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the precise cause and safety conditions surrounding the incident
