23rd December 2025 – (Hong Kong) Raymond Lam will stage a concert in Tokyo at the end of next month and has hinted in a local media interview that filming on the sequel to his hit Kowloon Walled City saga is scheduled to begin in March next year. To raise the bar on action sequences, he has been handed a “special order” to undergo two months of closed‑door intensive training. Yesterday, he joined Louis Koo to promote a new film in Hong Kong, drawing a turnout of more than 300 fans.
Lam’s star has risen sharply in Japan following the release of Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, which sparked a “Walled City” craze and earned him a large following. Currently on a world tour, he will perform at Tokyo Garden Theater in late January. In a magazine interview to promote the show, he shared the sequel’s start date and revealed a pre‑shoot “special mission”. He said the enduring buzz around the film remained “unbelievable” for the entire cast and crew. Recalling the enthusiastic reception during earlier promotions in Japan, he admitted being deeply moved, fondly noting backstage moments sharing takeaway ramen with the director and cast.
Pressed on the sequel, Lam disclosed that cameras will roll in March, keeping plot details under wraps but confirming a rigorous two‑month training block beforehand. He said next month he will begin sessions with action director Kenji Tanigaki, spending twice as much time as on the previous film, and promised even more intense action and higher demands. He added that, at the director’s request, he shaved his head to play Chan Lok‑kwun, diverging from the long‑haired look of the original manga. Amused by Japanese fans comparing him to the character Chiikawa, he said he was honoured but unsure he was “that cute”.
On the Tokyo concert, Lam revealed he has invited close friend Tony Wu as a guest and plans to perform a Japanese‑language rendition of Leslie Cheung’s classic Monica as a surprise for fans. He said the “Four Youths of the Walled City” remain close both on and off screen and have a chat group named “Walled City Remnants”, where he recently sent congratulations after Jeffrey Ngai announced his marriage. With work commitments ramping up next month, Lam took advantage of a brief break to go on a self‑drive family trip to Hokkaido with his wife and daughter.
