PolyU unveils “Write For You” AI literature review system with zero‑hallucination reports and rapid, in‑depth analysis

23rd December 2025 – (Hong Kong) A comprehensive literature review underpins rigorous academic work and informs decision-making for governments and businesses alike. Recognising the intensive reading, screening and analysis such reviews demand, Professor Liu Yan, Associate Professor and Group Leader of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (AIR) Research Group in the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), has led the development of “Write For You” — an AI-powered literature review system capable of deep analysis across extensive corpora and automated report generation. Launched in the first quarter of this year, the platform has attracted more than 40,000 active users worldwide. The team’s academic paper on the system was presented at the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) conference in February.

Professor Liu said the concept was inspired in 2022 by Professor Cao Jiannong, PolyU Vice-President (Education), who proposed harnessing AI to automate education research. In response, PhD student Zhang Zhi applied cutting-edge intelligent agent techniques to tackle AI “hallucination”, enabling literature reviews with verifiable logic and cross-lingual integration of scholarly sources that target “zero hallucination”. In parallel, Dr Chen Gong, a PhD graduate of the department, designed and built an intuitive interface that allows users in any sector to obtain a comprehensive, in-depth report within minutes by simply describing their topic.

Professor Liu added that, compared with traditional approaches that demand significant time and manpower, “Write For You” markedly improves research efficiency while reducing costs, explaining its strong international reception and rapid growth across dozens of countries and regions since launch.

Professor Cao said that, as AI increasingly empowers education and research, PolyU is committed to deploying advanced generative AI to elevate research productivity. He noted that the team’s breakthrough on hallucination has materially enhanced system reliability and overcome common technical barriers. Looking ahead, the team plans to build on its literature-review foundation to advance new AI-driven productive capabilities, developing autonomous intelligent systems towards an “AI Super Research Brain” spanning all disciplines and the full research lifecycle — with the aim of expanding the frontiers of human knowledge and shaping a new global paradigm for technological innovation with Hong Kong-developed AI.
