19th December 2025 – (Wyoming) Suspicious “UFOs” have reportedly hovered over Wyoming’s Jim Bridger Power Plant and the surrounding Red Desert for more than a year, prompting the local sheriff to speak out. Residents in Sweetwater County say illuminated, saucer‑shaped objects have appeared in coordinated formations for the past 13 months. Sheriff John Grossnickle told Cowboy State Daily he personally observed the lights as recently as Saturday night.
His spokesman, Jason Mower, said the objects fly too high to be brought down from the ground and remain unexplained despite extensive enquiries. “We’ve worked with everybody. We’ve done everything we can to figure out what they are, and nobody wants to give us any answers,” he said.
According to Mower, the sheriff even escorted Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman to view the phenomena; she reportedly witnessed them as well. The sightings have become so routine that residents now rarely file reports. Mower alternately described the objects as drones and unidentified flying objects, noting they appear miles up and manoeuvre in a drone‑like manner, yet defy identification.
“It’s like the new normal,” he said, adding that the lights have not caused harm or disruption. Should they pose a threat or damage property, the sheriff’s office would “act accordingly”.
Elsewhere in the state, Niobrara County Sheriff Randy Starkey said his community observed drone‑like craft over Lance Creek from October through March last year before the activity ceased. He welcomed their disappearance but said many questions remain.
The issue has also reached the political arena. During a discussion on the Wyoming National Guard’s lack of a counter‑drone budget, State Senate Appropriations Chair Tim Salazar asked about UAPs — the government term for unidentified anomalous phenomena. Adjutant General Greg Porter replied that he did not believe he could address the matter publicly.
