Hong Kong’s Fire Services Department held a funeral with full honours on Friday for firefighter Ho Wai-ho, who died in the line of duty in a blaze at Wang Fuk Court last month.

Photo: Kyle Lam/HKFP.A fire engine converted into a hearse carried Ho’s casket, departing from the Universal Funeral Parlour in Hung Hom at 10.30am, as government officials and firefighters formed an honour guard outside the building to pay their respects.
Ho, 37, was among the 160 people who lost their lives in the fire at the residential complex.

Photo: Kyle Lam/HKFP.The hearse then headed to Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, the fire site where Ho died, before stopping at Sha Tin Fire Station, where Ho had been stationed.
The station rang a bell at around 11.40am, signalling the end of his final shift as part of the funeral rites, before proceeding to the final resting place at Gallant Garden in Wo Hop Shek Public Cemetery.

Ho’s helmet was buried along with the casket.
