The police said in a statement on Friday that they received a report at around 9am on Thursday that two men were robbed by a group of people on Wing Lok Street.

The suspects were armed with knives and later escaped in a car driving towards Jervois Street.

The police arrived at the scene and found the car on Jervois Street. They later arrested a 43-year-old man outside the Sheung Wan MTR station after initial investigation.

The suspect was in Hong Kong on a two-way travel permit from mainland China. Four others, who are local residents, are still on the run, according to police.

Officers are investigating the relationship between the victims and the suspects, the police told HKFP.

In Hong Kong, anyone convicted of robbery can see a penalty of up to life imprisonment.
